I had a rotten week, how about you?
This has been a bad week. First, Culcom cuts the budget for the Open Quiz- the buggers promised us sixty thousand for prizes, which is now down to about twelve. Then, I cupped badly in the American Express placement test, with some horrible misses.
After that, despite waking up on time, I couldn't get an auto to the railway station, which meant that Sumo Yet So Far went to Odyssey without me, and missed qualifying by one point. And to top it off, JP Morgan called up PlaceCom today and said they weren't going to conduct their test tomorrow, so I could have gone to Chennai and Saarang after all. Sheeargh.
I also attended too horrible PPTs today- Johnson and Johnson, where the presentation was full of baby pictures- yeeurgh- and SBI, where after starting an hour late, the chap droned on for an hour and a half about how SBi was actually dynamic and not at all like the typical perception of a public sector company and how helping blind people across the street was glamorous.
Thanks to the PPT running so late, my expensive trip to MG Road comes to naught as I go there to find Premier Book Shop closed. Well, almost naught, because I did pick up hawai chappals and shoelaces- both of which I have badly needed for six months.
And the week was pretty much made up for by three things:
1. I finally discovered Blossoms, after a year and a half in Bangalore. I never knew it was so cool. Church Street will be visited more often now.
2. Also on Church Street, I discovered a magazine-only shop, with many many foriegn speciality magazines, some which are so delightfully floyd and arbit that just seeing the cover gives me a kick. Oh, and its populated with cats- that too, pedigree cats who sneer at you with downcast eyes. What joy.
3. Chicken Kaati and Shawarma from Kaati Place and Empire Hotel respectively.
Tomorrow is me day. Me, me, me. I shall gatecrash the Iyengars and thulp a homecooked meal, pick up my pseud new spectacles, and buy The System of the World.
